A federal judge says thereis enough evidence to send two men to trial in the doctor-lawyer medical fraud case. The trial is set for February.
The Channel 8 I-Team was the first to report on the indictments.
Prosecutors say self-described medical fixer Howard Awand and Las Vegas attorney Noel Gage took part in a scheme that defrauded personal injury victims out of tens of millions of dollars.
The indictment says Awand inflated personal injury claims and paid doctors to testify on the inflated claims in court.
Thursday, a judge denied a defense motion to dismiss the case.
The judge did tell the U.S. attorney's office he wants to see more specific evidence that the victims lost money in the scheme.
