Nevada's Bureau of Land Management is rounding up more wild horses than ever before. Thousands of horses have been removed from the ranges in the last two years.
In fact, there are now more wild horses in government pens than there are in the wild. So what does it cost to mount all of these roundups?
Apparently, the BLM doesn't know. Eyewitness News has been asking the BLM for this information since Feb. 16. Channel 8 filed an information request under the Freedom of Information Act to find out how the BLM is spending its wild horse budget and how much money is going toward finding homes for the horses.
BLM says that after almost six months, it is still trying to find the information.
U.S. Senator Harry Reid has entered the effort to secure the budget information, but even Reid has been stymied so far.
Channel 8 Eyewitness News intends to continue to pursue this request.
