A mother of three is dead after police say she threatened officers and drivers with a knife at a busy intersection. The woman had her three-year-old son with her. Family members told Eyewitness News the woman's name was Denise Glasco.

Police say they were called to a Jack in the Box restaurant at Lake Mead and Martin Luther King because of a disturbance involving a woman who was throwing chairs and yelling at customers.

Glasco's family says her actions were completely out of character. Not only was the shooting victim the mother of three, her family says she was pregnant. "Somebody had to say something to her to make her mad because she would not do that and she got her baby with her," said Tanginique Grissom, Glasco's cousin.

She was shot after she left the restaurant and ignored police commands. Police say the woman attempted to get into people's cars at a nearby intersection. It was at that point that police were able to get the child away from the woman.

Police say they used pepper spray, bean bags and a taser in an attempt to stop the woman but nothing worked. Police used deadly force after they say Glasco made a threatening move with the knife. The woman was shot twice.

"The first shot was not enough to stop the female's advance on the officer. A second shot was fired. She went down," said Deputy Chief Ted Moody, Metro.

Several eyewitnesses who spoke with Eyewitness News say they did not notice the kitchen knife in the woman's hand.
