There's a huge sense of fulfillment when a child we featured on Wednesday's Child gets adopted. So, if it feels that good at Channel 8, just think how good it feels for the child and the parents.

On a rainy day in Southern Nevada in October of 2006, we spent some time with Debrianna on a horse farm in the valley. She was trying to recover from a recent failed adoption and told Dave she wanted a home where she could have a pet.

Now, less than a year later, her dreams have come true. She has her own pet, a pretty good size cat, new parents, who she calls perfect, and she's even chosen a new name for herself: Crystal Ann.

"I wasn't sure that was normal to change the name. I thought that was a pretty big deal. So I was a little hesitant to go along with the program until I talked to Angela, her caseworker," said Valerie, Crystal's new adoptive mother.

Valerie first met Crystal on Valentine's Day and brought her a card with a scripture reading on it.

"She got a big smile on her face. She said. 'That's awesome, I prayed for parents that would have a strong belief in God.' So, of course, that was a little emotional there. So, it was just meant to be," Valerie explained.

Don is Crystal's new father. He took an early retirement so he could be a full-time stay at home dad.

"Everything clicked from the time I seen her, and it just kinda clicked in place. I knew right away that she was the one," admitted Don.

All three agree that once they met, it was like it was all meant to be.

"At this point in my life, it's just the most natural thing. I don't look back, and say what was life like before. It's so fulfilling I would never want to go back. Now, my only regret is we're only gonna have her for five years, and she'll be an adult and be out of the house," said Valerie.

"I feel that they're the perfect, just the perfect family for me," Crystal exclaimed.

There are so many other children deserving of adoption. Call the local office of the Adoption Exchange at 436-6335 to find out more.
