Adopt Tyler Now Before He Gets Away

Posted: Updated:

You might remember we were at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway recently with two Wednesday's Child candidates. You met Kenneth last week. Now, here's Tyler.

Walking with Tyler at the track was like rediscovering my boyhood. This sandy-haired young man sees the world with the enthusiasm of discovering a new adventure.

Tyler is just a joy to be with -- always smiling and clearly enjoying the company of others. He's a little hesitant in his speech, which his CASA worker says is his only special need.

"We've got an outside speech therapist... and he's doing really well with his speech It's really made it a lot more interesting. A lot of times he was "yes-ing" and "no-ing" his answers, and now, like on the way over here, he was telling me five things he liked about his teacher," explained Kimberly, Tyler's Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).

Tyler ran from one thing to the next. He thought sitting in the Richard Petty Driving School stock car was pretty cool, but a nearby go-cart was a little more his size.

Tyler's favorite subject in school is math and he has a pretty good understanding of why he was being put on TV.

"He does. He's asked a couple of times, 'Am I going back to the cottages?' And so that's a tough question to answer, not knowing. There's not knowing availability for his home, so we're now getting counseling for him to answer some of those tough questions," said Kimberly.

Nothing would be better for Tyler than a loving home with stability and structure, and  -- OK -- maybe a couple of other minor things.

"I think the ideal home would have other siblings, would have some animals. He loves animals. And just a happy environment, he really doesn't want for much. He loves hot chocolate, but other than hot chocolate, he's pretty easy," added Kimberly with a smile.

Tyler is one of our Heart Gallery kids, so if you're interested, you'd better move fast to adopt.
