The Bureau of Land Management will round up hundreds of horses next week despite a lawsuit filed to stop them.

The BLM is scheduled to round up and remove 266 wild horses and 800 wild burros from the Spring Mountains during the first week of January.

A federal court judge denied a temporary restraining order to halt the gather.

Horse advocates said there was no basis for the round-up and the have long complained that the Bureau of Land Management does a poor job of managing the herds on Nevada's ranges. They went to court on Tuesday, Dec. 26 to try to prove it.
