(Oct. 11) 11:45 a.m. -- A 3-year-old girl is now in very critical condition after the car she was in was rear-ended by tractor trailer.

The child's her 6-year old sibling and her mother, who was driving the car, were treated at the hospital and released.

Police say the driver of the truck was apparently not impaired, but he could still face very serious charges.

(Oct. 10) -- Police say the driver of a Republic Services truck was not paying close enough attention when he slammed into a stopped car at a red light injuring two children and their mother.

"He took his eyes off the road, that's the best way to describe it.  He failed to pay attention to his driving," said Sgt. Tracy McDonald, Metro.

The back seat of the car, where the children were sitting, was virtually destroyed.  A three-year-old is still in the hospital with critical injuries.  Police say both children were properly restrained.

The accident happened at Lake Mead and Nellis on Tuesday afternoon and the impact of the accident forced the woman's car into another vehicle.

The 29-year-old mother, Latasha Hankston and her five-year-old child have been released from the hospital, but the youngest remains in hospitalized.

The other two drivers were not seriously hurt.
