The Vegas Grand Prix has a new home in downtown Las Vegas.
Located at 201 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Suite 150, the office will serve as headquarters for the first Vegas Grand Prix, scheduled for April 6 through April 8, 2007 on the streets of downtown Las Vegas.
The race has its own Web site now - www.vegasgrandprix.com - with details about the festival. Racing fans can watch the Grand Prix for free.
It's been nearly two decades since a road race zipped through the streets of downtown Las Vegas.
The Vegas Grand Prix will cost close to $2 million with $1.3 million of that cost paid for by the promoters who feel it'll be a world class event and certainly more then just racing.
The racing will be a no-charge event and organizers say there will no interference with development during the festival, which will be held in April 6 through April 8, 2007.
Jobs, worldwide publicity, and helping spur downtown vitality were very important issues to the city council's decision to unanimously approve "Vegas Grand Prix."
Officials say the race will draw the sports' top drivers.
The start and finish line will be on Grand Central Parkway and the 2.4-mile, 14-turn street course will zig and zag through the downtown streets of Las Vegas.
