There are two developments in the investigation of embattled Clark County Recorder Frances Deane. Channel 8 Eyewitness News has learned she has decided not to run for re-election that Metro has finished its investigation into allegations of potential misconduct by Deane.
The case has been turned over to the district attorney.
Deane has been under fire over allegations she accepted large amounts of money in exchange for giving private businesses access to county documents. No charges have been filed yet.
Last week the recorder's office was served with a subpoena demanding a massive accounting of every document in the recorders office.
Deane released a statement Thursday maintaining her innocence but admitting that a cloud is hanging over her saying, "the inevitable legal proceedings will not only dominate the campaign, but will certainly affect the operations of the recorder's office."
