Adopt a Rounded Up Wild Horse

More than two-dozen wild Nevada horses have been captured. It's part of an ongoing effort by the Bureau of Land Management to control their population. This group of 37 was rounded up Thursday and is now in a temporary corral.

The BLM call this an "emergency gather" caused by the Good Springs fire last year. The blaze burned nearly half of the horses' habitat.

Kirsten Cannon, with the Bureau of Land Management, said, "With the reduction of 40-percent of their food.. obviously impact.. preventative measure to take them off and re-release 16."

The other 21 will be shipped to a holding facility in California. However, horse advocates criticize the BLM for not having an agressive adoption program. Many fear the wild horses will end up being sold for slaughter.
