Denise is in her 17th year in television news.

The two time Emmy Award winner was recently recognized as the Best Anchor in the Pacific Southwest region. She was also part of the team honored for Best Morning Newscast.  Denise won her first Emmy for a series of educational reports, called 'Cool at School'. The stories highlighted the positive programs in Clark County schools.

You may remember Denise as the co-anchor of 8 News NOW This Morning. But she's traded in those early morning hours to bring you the news at noon and four. You'll see her every weekday afternoon with Dave Courvoisier and Gary Waddell. Denise also heads up Dishing and Dining and the Pet Project.

Denise came to us from KNBC-TV in Los Angeles where she was the weekend anchor of Southern California's number one late night newscast. Before Los Angeles, she was the weekend anchor at KXAS-TV in Dallas, Texas. While working there she launched 'El Puente', a weekly segment and quarterly show focusing on Hispanic issues. The lone star state was home for nearly a decade. She worked in San Antonio as an anchor and reporter for KSAT-TV. Prior to Texas, she made stops in Monterey and Palm Springs, California.

Denise graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Pepperdine University. Before landing her first on air job, Denise got plenty of practice talking in front of the public as a tour guide at Universal Studios.

A native of Los Angeles, Valdez is part Swiss and a third generation Mexican-American. An avid animal lover, she shares her home with two Golden retrievers, a Labrador retriever and an easy going cat. She also owns a very large lint brush!
