LAS VEGAS - Several valley residents have been asking about progress on the Cactus Road Interchange.
The good news is the interchange is now open. The Nevada Department of Transportation opened the road August 29.
This interchange was built to ease traffic as the valley expands south and west with additional homes and businesses. Drivers can now access I-15 from Cactus Road.
NDOT officials say they hope these improvements will relieve traffic delays along Blue Diamond Road, St. Rose Parkway and Silverado Ranch Boulevard. The interchange gives drivers another option for accessing I-15.
Crews broke ground on this project in April 2013. Las Vegas Paving was able to finish construction two months early. The Cactus Road Interchange cost $52 million.
Although the road is open, NDOT says crews will still be in the area for incidental items and clean-up through September.
