LAS VEGAS -- A man has been arrested in California in connection with a murder in Las Vegas, Metro Police announced Thursday.

According to police, at around 12:19 a.m. Wednesday, dispatchers received a call from Los Angeles Police Department requesting officers check on a woman living in the 500 block of Elm Drive, which is near Paradise and Desert Inn roads.

LAPD said that a man had called them to report that he had killed his roommate at that location a few days earlier.

When officers arrived, they found a woman dead inside the residence.

Homicide detectives traveled to Los Angeles to talk to the man who had called police. After an investigation, police arrested 54-year-old Martin Skropeta on charges of murder. He is currently waiting to be extradited back to Las Vegas to face those charges.

The identity of the woman and her cause of death has not been released.
