RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A 24-year-old man has been arraigned on drug and animal cruelty charges after Reno police say they found the remains of several dismembered dogs in a motel room he'd been renting.
Jason Brown was arraigned in Reno Justice Court Monday on five felony counts of willful torture of an animal and one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Brown was being held in the Washoe County jail on $35,000 bail.
Police say they found four dog heads in a small refrigerator with several knives and scissors Tuesday in a room at the Super 8 on South Virginia Street. They estimate five dogs were dismembered.
It wasn't immediately clear if Brown has a lawyer or will be appointed one before his next court appearance July 21.
Some medical providers say they often deal with Hispanic patients who are afraid to seek medical care. It's hoped the opening of a new medical clinic will change that.
