Missing 3-year-old girl found safe

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- The 3-year-old girl, who has been missing for a week, has been found safe, Metro Police confirm to 8 News NOW.

According to police, 3-year-old Katies Battle and her 35-year-old mother Shelly Mitchell were found Sunday morning at the The Suites on Boulder Highway at Flamingo Road.

Police say the girl is "great condition." North Las Vegas Police have taken Mitchell into custody and Child Protective Services now have the girl in their care.

Katies was found after a security guard at the apartments contacted police, saying he believed she was living there with her mother.

The girl is in foster care, and while at an approved visit to her father's house for a family gathering last Saturday, CPS says the girl's mother, who does not currently have custody, took her.
