LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the young girl killed in the rollover crash Wednesday morning as 9-year-old Gabriela Casias. Her cause of death is still pending.

The 9-year-old girl was killed when the SUV she was riding in rolled over on I-15 northbound near D Street at around 8 a.m. According to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson, a 22-year-old woman, identified by NHP as Wendy Carrion, was driving the vehicle and there were six children as passengers, all were under the age of 10.

Three of the children were ejected from the vehicle, including Gabriela Casias. NHP says the three children who were ejected were not wearing seatbelts. A 6-year-old girl was critically injured. The other children, ages 1, 2, 4 and 6, and the driver are in stable condition at University Medical Center.

Police say Carrion had just dropped off Gabriela's mother at work prior to the crash. Carrion is the mother of four of the children and the other two children are her sister's.

NHP said the Ford SUV may have been cut off by another driver.

"What we do have in Nevada is a law where we call it a non-contact vehicle. It's a vehicle where the drivers actions may have caused an accident. Fortunately, you don't have to actually hit the vehicle itself, but their actions, themselves is a major contributor to that incident. We look into that, of course, if there is another vehicle involved with that driver, they could face charges because of the fatality," Hixson said.

Witnesses are urged to call NHP if they saw anything that might have caused the crash. The phone number is 702-486-4100. The other car that may have been involved is described as a silver sedan with a white background license plate.

I-15 northbound was closed for nearly four hours while NHP investigated the crash. It reopened shortly before noon.

The staff at C.P. Squires Elementary School where Casias went to school has set up a fund to help the family pay for the funeral expenses. The account number is 6658711038.
