Acts of Kindness: Savannah and Siena Prenger

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - Two teen sisters are providing supplies to homeless teens and at-risk youth in schools, shelters and foster care.

Seventeen-year-old Savannah Prenger and her sister 14-year-old Siena Prenger recently delivered several new books to the Shade Tree Shelter’s children’s playroom.

“It was amazing to see them filled, because you go, every time you do the little kid birthday parties, you see there’s never a bunch of books. It’s always some broken books, some really old books,” Siena said.

The teens also supplied the agency with 100 hygiene kits.

“Personal shampoos, and conditioners, and bars of soap, and shower gels and lotions. That is because that is just the basic necessity that every person needs,” Savannah said.

These sisters have been giving back to the community for years. They started their own charity, Teens Helping Teens, which collects and buys supplies for various local agencies.

“We do feel very fortunate, and that's why we love to come and help, because we realize how lucky we are,” Savannah said.

The Shade Tree Shelter holds a special place in their hearts.

“We've volunteered here for years, since we were young. We did a lot of National Charity League. Just a couple of months ago, we repainted one of their rooms,” Savannah said.

Their charity work doesn’t end at Shade Tree. The girls recently collected and dropped off dozens of pairs of Nike tennis shoes to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

The girls also created and delivered graduate gift baskets to homeless teens who graduated against all odds.

Savannah heads to San Francisco in the fall, but she promises to continue charity work. The sisters hope to eventually expand their non-profit to other states.

8 News NOW is rewarding Savannah and Siena Prenger by awarding them $800 as part of its weekly series Acts of Kindness.
