LAS VEGAS -- A woman is facing murder and robbery charges in the fatal stabbing of a man in May.

Elita Maldonado, 31, who was being held in a Wyoming jail on unrelated charges, told police she stabbed William Sanford on May 29 after the two had sex and she stole his car and cell phone.

Maldonado told police she agreed to have sex with Sanford for $200 and the two went to his northeast apartment.

According to the arrest report, Maldonado told police she heard her daughter's voice in her head saying that Sanford had hurt her daughters. While Sanford slept, Maldonado picked up a barbell and hit him on the forehead. She told police, the two fought and the fight went into the kitchen where she grabbed a knife and stabbed Sanford.

Police located Sanford's car where it had run out of gas at 5th Street and Lake Mead Avenue. A surveillance camera at a nearby convenience store captured images of Maldonado buying gas.
