LAS VEGAS -- The man who is accused of exchanging gunfire with police last week is an ex-felon, according to his arrest report.

Joshua Bacharach, 30, was arrested June 26 after he fired several shots at officers and attempted to avoid arrest by running into a neighborhood, police said.

Metro Police Officer Ryan McNabb, 38, attempted to stop Bacharach, who was driving near Lake Mead Boulevard and Dolly Lane, for failing to dim his vehicle's high beams. According to the arrest report, Bacharach failed to stop, reached speeds of 80 miles-an-hour and began firing shots from his car. He eventually fled into a neighborhood near Carey Avenue and Dolly Lane where he fired more shots.

Metro officers used a police dog to help take Bacharach into custody. He was treated for a dog bite after his arrest.

A records check showed Bacharach is an ex-felon who was on probation for attempted theft, the report said.

Bacharach is facing charges of attempted murder of a police officer, felony evading, discharging a firearm from a car, and an ex-felon being in possession of a weapon.
