LAS VEGAS -- The former mental patient accused of killing his 91-year-old grandfather and attempting to kill his father once again refused to show up for a court appearance.

Steven Woodard, 43, was due to be in Las Vegas Justice Court Monday morning, but was a no show. He was scheduled to go before a judge for his arraignment on murder and attempted murder charges.

The judge referred Woodard to competency court on July 18.

Woodard is facing charges in the May 6 killing of Richard Hill who was found dead in his home near McLeod Drive and Hacienda Avenue. Later in the day, Woodard went to his father's home and slashed his neck with a box cutter, police said. Jerry Woodard survived the attack. Steven Woodard also attacked Jerry Woodard's roommate.

Woodard told police his son has a long history of violence.
