LAS VEGAS -- Two individuals chased by Metro Police after allegedly committing two armed robberies were indicted by a Clark County grand jury on charges of robbery with use of a deadly weapon and burglary.
Bail was set at $500,000 each for Demone Lewis and Antonio Chavez, who remain in the Clark County Detention Center. They are due in court June 11.
Lewis and Chavez were accused of robbing an individual of his 2003 Toyota Corolla at gunpoint May 11 along East Sahara Avenue, and then using the car to commit a robbery of another individual.
During a subsequent police chase, the defendants allegedly drove the car into a fence. The crash impaled an alleged unindicted third defendant, who remains in critical condition at University Medical Center, prosecutors said.
The city of North Las Vegas is using fire engines considered past their prime. Some have been on the road for so long, they're now even beyond national standards for replacement.More>>
