Deal reached with Golden Gate Hotel, strike avoided

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS-- A deal has been reached with union workers at the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino.
They reached a tentative agreement for a new five-year contract, avoiding a strike that was scheduled to start at 5 a.m. Sunday. The Culinary and Bartenders Union's have been fighting for a year to get a guarantee for their health benefits, pension and wages.

On Saturday, The Plaza Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas Club, the Four Queens Hotel and Casino, Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel all reached deals with the union. It has been more than a decade since there was strike at a casino.

The settlement is retroactive to June 1, 2013, if it is ratified by the workers.
