Golden Gate prepares for Culinary Union Strike

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS-- The Golden Gate is the only property that has not come to a tentative agreement with the Culinary and Bartenders Unions. If an overnight deal is not reached, restaurant workers, hotel housekeepers, cocktail servers, bartenders and other union members will walk off the job at 5 a.m. Sunday.

On Saturday, the Plaza Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas Club, the Four Queens Hotel and Casino, Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel all reached deals with the union.

The settlement is retroactive to June 1, 2013, if it is ratified by the workers. The latest settlements follow the standard of a fair agreement set by earlier deals with other Downtown casinos, including the Golden Nugget, Fremont, Main Street Station, El Cortez, and The D.

The potential strike at the Golden Gate would be the first casino strike in 12 years.
