Every once in a while we come across a Wednesday's Child who is wise beyond their years. A'maria is that girl. Dave Courvoisier introduces us to a 9-yr-old who is every bit the young lady she appears to be.
"I'm a kind respectful kid. I'm lovable, helpful. Very mannerable, and pleasant," says A'maria matter-of-factly.
And... A'maria is honest...
She's all that she describes herself to be, and more...as we found out at the bowling lanes.
"A'maria has an extremely sweet, kind, giving, compassionate personality," says her case worker, Bren, without reserve.
A'maria gave me hi-fives even while she was beating me in the pin-count. We had fun bowling, but her case worker says she much prefers being outside.
"Outside is her favorite. You can always catch A'maria riding her bike or her scooter outdoors. She loves it!" adds Bren.
Bren says she's had open-minded talks with A'maria about being adopted.
"It doesn't matter what color they are black or white…I want a caring and loving family, someone that can um take care of me well and that is nice," admits A'maria.
"A'maria's been waiting for some time, and she's ready, she's ready to go, and I think you can tell just by talking to her," admits Bren.
A'maria would like siblings -- younger or older -- she's very organized, and would fit in well anywhere.
"I think A'maria would do fine in either a two-parent or a single parent family, but I think it would be wonderful if A'maria could be the baby of the family, and be spoiled rotten, and maybe have a pet or two," says Bren.
"I'm there for people when they need me, um, I help them, I don't just do stuff for myself, I do stuff for other people and that's pretty much it!" says A'maria with a big smile.
The way is clear to adopt A'maria...and you can get started in the process right away by calling the local office of the Adoption Exchange at 436-6335.
