Wolfgang Puck prepares to open Summerlin restaurant

LAS VEGAS - Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck will open Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill at Downtown Summerlin this fall. He spoke exclusively with 8 News NOW about the eatery.

“There's not that much to see right here, but here is going to be the entrance to the restaurant. It’s going to be very, very impressive. To the left, there is going to be the bar right over here, and I'm going to have a big community table, so people can hang out and wait for their friends," Puck said.

Puck says it will be similar to his restaurant at the MGM Grand.

“Some of the dishes will be very familiar. We will probably make, like, some of my favorites like the wiener schnitzel, like a few Austrian influences. So, it will be good,” he said.

One big difference will be the restaurant’s target audience.

“I want people to live and dine where they live, instead of driving to the Strip. Now, we are in their neighborhood, and this is going to be the center of town,” he said.

Puck has been making delicious food in the valley for 22 years. He started with Spago at Caesars Palace. He has since opened five more restaurants. Puck says he's impressed with how much the valley has grown.

“I think Las Vegas is a great community and a great city. There's a lot of entertainment, but people work very hard, and people give a lot to this city. So, I think there is no other city I know that has grown in twenty years like Las Vegas,” he said.

Puck says his Downtown Summerlin restaurant will be a place for the whole family to dine and have fun.

“Families who live out here, it’s not really convenient to bring your children downtown or to the Strip,” he said. “Out here, you are in a regular town in a regular city. It would be very convenient and very easy for families to enjoy our restaurant here.”

Downtown Summerlin is scheduled to open in October.
