LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Nevada congressman is calling on elected officials in the state to rid a town in his district of armed militia members who have rallied around rancher Cliven Bundy in his battle with federal land managers.

Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford, in an address in Las Vegas on Saturday, said he's making the request after hearing more complaints from constituents about the presence of Bundy's supporters around Bunkerville, 75 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

He singled out Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval, Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller and Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie in his speech, urging them to "do their part of get rid of these armed separatists."

In an interview on the "Nevada Newsmakers" television show taped Friday, Sandoval said Gillespie continues to monitor the situation in the Bunkerville area.
