LAS VEGAS -- A Clark County Grand Jury indicted 31-year-old Darius Sorrells on two counts of murder with use of deadly weapon for the murders of his mother and sister in their North Las Vegas home in late March.

Sorrells is being held in the Clark County Detention Center with no bail. A hearing is set for Friday to discuss competency. His arraignment is set for May 6.

Prosecutors said that Sorrells killed his mother, Jan Burden, and sister, Natasha Sorrells, by hitting them in the head, and he dismembered his sister using a chain saw.

Family members, who live out of state, were concerned about Burden and Sorrells and contacted a friend who happened to be an airman at Nellis Air Force Base.

The airman kicked in the door when there was no response at the home and didn't find any bodies. When police returned to the home, they found the bodies. One was wrapped in plastic and the other was found in a bathtub.

Police also found evidence that Sorrells had tried to clean up the crime scene.

Sorrells had a prior felony conviction for making a "terrorist threat" against a police officer in another state.

The judge set no bail because the suspect has no address and no employment.
