LAS VEGAS -- A mother taken into police custody in connection with the drowned death of her 3-year-old son, now faces murder charges.
Lieutenant Ken Romine said the boy's mother, 30-year-old Christine Allen, called 911 just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Firefighters arrived at the Rock Springs Vista Condos, near Buffalo and Vegas Dr. and tried to resuscitate the boy at the home. He was later pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital.
A preliminary investigation indicates Allen may have been experiencing a medical crisis when she drowned her son in the bathtub.
There were no other children home at the time of the drowning.
Allen was later arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
The Coroner's Office has yet to released a cause of death, or the identity of the toddler.
This is Metro's 14th homicide investigation so far this year.
