LAS VEGAS -- More people here in Nevada reported having the flu last year than any other state.
A recent Gallup poll found that 2.9 percent of adults in Nevada said they had influenza last year that is the highest number across the U.S.
The state with lowest reported flu rate was Vermont, followed by North Dakota and South Carolina.
The top five states with the most flu reports three of them Nevada, California and Texas, also have the highest percentage of uninsured residents, according to Gallup.
The polling company came up with the data by calling 500 Americans every night asking whether they had a flu or cold yesterday. The company admits that there are problems with the poll. The biggest problem is that many people may refer to a bad cold as influenza or they may have influenza but they call it a cold.
When it comes to just your everyday cold, Nevada was on the opposite end of the spectrum, one of the five states with the lowest percentages.
