LAS VEGAS -- State Assemblywoman Lucy Flores announced Saturday her intentions to run for lieutenant governor.
Flores, a former teenage gang member, was elected to the state assembly in 2010. She made national news during the 2013 legislation when she admitted to having an abortion when she was a teen. At the time, she was supporting a bill that would have overhauled sex education in public schools.
Many of Nevada's democratic congressional leaders sent messages of support after Flores's announcement including U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and U.S. Representatives Steven Horsford and Dina Titus.
