State Adjusts Job Numbers, Unemployment Rate

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Adjustments to Nevada's job numbers from last year revealed that the state added 30,900 non-farm jobs in 2013, 9,200 more than original estimates from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

At the same time, the state's average unemployment rate for 2013 was adjusted upwardly from a preliminary 9.4 percent to 9.8 percent, the agency reported Thursday. Still, the adjusted unemployment rate is 1.7 percentage points below the state's 11.5 percent average unemployment rate for 2012.

Of the job gains statewide, 23,800 came from the Las Vegas metropolitan area, a 2.9 percent gain over 2012.
