Newest Strip Boutique Hotel Set to Open in May

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- The Las Vegas Strip is getting a facelift at its busiest intersection.

The Cromwell, the Strip's newest boutique hotel, will open in May and rooms opened for booking for the first time Monday.

The resort sits on prime real estate. Each year, 20 million passersby come through the intersection of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard, and they'll go right by The Cromwell, getting to experience luxurious Las Vegas.

In Las Vegas, it is all about location, location, location. Caesars Entertainment is giving the property a $185 million facelift.

The Cromwell Hotel and Casino promises an exceptional luxury hotel experience.

Rick and Joan Dixon fondly remember staying at the property when this prime corner was Barbary Coast and later Bill's Gamblin' Hall.

The location is the same but as the vice president and general manager of the property Karie Hall explains, The Cromwell will be new and different.

"We're right on the 50-yard line of Las Vegas Boulevard," Hall said. "It is a unique stand-alone boutique hotel, the first of its kind for Las Vegas, 188 rooms. It's really a lot of high energy in the building, and a party atmosphere all the time."

Caesars Entertainment hopes Drai's Beach Club-Nightclub and Drai's After Hours will set the new standard for the Las Vegas entertainment and nightlife experience.

Celebrity chef Giada de Laurentiis will open her self-titled Italian restaurant, Giada, on Memorial Day weekend.

The resort will feature a 40-thousand-square-foot casino.

"It's not just about the gaming experience. It's about the entire entertainment experience for all guests," Hall said.

The Dixons remember those bargains from Bill's and the Barbary Coast, but with its subtle Parisian theme, The Cromwell will be upscale.

"They'll be a lot more expensive too," Rick Dixon said.

The boutique hotel is now open for bookings.

"Rates start at $249 midweek, and $299 for the weekends," Hall said.

The Cromwell will welcome its first guests on May 21.
