LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is under arrest in connection with the death of his roommate.

Metro Police arrested 51-year-old Edward Norman Kopp on charges of murder with a deadly weapon in the death of 53-year-old Sheila Linke.

Kopp and his girlfriend Kathy Atteberry shared Linke's home near Ann Road and Jones Boulevard.

According to police, Kopp strangled Linke after she asked them both to move out of the house. The victim's body was buried in the desert in Arizona, police said.

Linke was first reported as a missing person in January. Her friends and coworkers reported her missing Jan. 28. Police questioned Atteberry and Kopp about their roommate's disappearance and they told police they had not seen her since she left for work Jan. 27.

Police say they found blood on the tailgate of Kopp's pickup truck, which turned out to be human. On Feb. 18, While detectives were still investigating Linke's disappearance, Kopp's attorney called police, telling them his client wanted to make a statement.

In the statement, Kopp told police he had killed Linke after a fight about moving out. He told police she had threatened him with a knife, which is when he strangled her.

So far, Atteberry has not been charged in connection with the crime.
