Coroner: Former Prosecutor Overdosed on Medications

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County Coroner's Office has ruled that former prosecutor Lisa Willardson died accidentally from combined drug intoxication.

The coroner's office says there is no indication that Willardson committed suicide.

The former prosecutor was at the center of the dispute between Family Court Judge Steven Jones and the judicial discipline committee. The judge and Willardson were dating while Jones presided over some of her cases in family court.

The commission found Jones violated ethics rules. Jones was suspended for three months without pay. He faces separate federal charges in what prosecutors call a $3 million investment fraud.

He also announced he would not run for office again.

Willardson was found dead in her home the day after Christmas, which was the same day the commission ruled that Jones violated ethics rules.
