Arrest Report Details Deadly Summerlin Crash

LAS VEGAS -- Fire department workers who responded to the deadly crash on Summerlin Parkway were the first to notice the driver of the pickup truck showed signs of intoxication, according to the arrest report released by Nevada Highway Patrol.

Gustavo Martinez Garcia is charged with two counts of felony DUI resulting in death for the crash that happened on Feb. 5. Savanna Gonzales and Frank Spenia were killed when their car was hit head on by Garcia's truck. An investigation at the scene showed Gonzales had applied her brakes just before impact.

According to the arrest report, Garcia's truck was traveling westbound on Summerlin Parkway when he crossed the center median and struck Gonzales' car which was heading eastbound on the parkway.

A NHP trooper did say Garcia, who was injured in the crash, did appear intoxicated at the hospital. The trooper did three voluntary blood draws from Garcia. The toxicology results are still pending.
