LAS VEGAS - A viewer says the stoplight at Las Vegas Boulevard and SLS Way continues to cycle, even though little to no traffic occurs on SLS Way.
Traffic8 has addressed this light before. In 2012, Traffic8 was able to get vehicle detection removed in lieu of a pedestrian-activated light.
Unfortunately, this light is once again stopping cars for no reason. The traffic light is only supposed to turn red, when a pedestrian activates the crosswalk button.
The current problem stems from loops in the driveway at SLS that were destroyed during the hotel's construction. This triggered the traffic signal into automatic recalls, which service all legs of the intersection with random red lights, even when no pedestrians or vehicles are present.
County crews removed the recalls in the controller to solve this persistent problem.
