Coroner Identifies Stabbing Victim Found in Apartment

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the man found dead in an apartment complex on Friday as 33-year-old Christopher Michael Matley of Las Vegas.

Mately's body was discovered on Friday, around 1 p.m., at an apartment complex near Jimmy Durante Boulevard and Harmon Avenue on the southeast side of the Las Vegas valley.

The coroner's office says Matley died from multiple stab wounds. Meanwhile, officers identified a person of interest in the case.

Saturday morning, around 6:30, police who were in the area of the homicide noticed a burglary at a nearby home. That suspect led officers on a small chase where he confronted a woman and threatened her with a large knife before taking off in her car. She was not injured.

Police say the suspect in both cases is the same man.

He goes by "DJ" and is described as a man between 25 to 28 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 and is missing a front tooth.

The carjacking victim's vehicle is a silver 2005 Toyota Scion hatchback with Nevada license plate 535-RWZ.

If you have any information that can help police you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
