LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Las Vegas pet store owner is accused of setting her business ablaze, but all 27  puppies inside were rescued.

Clark County Fire Department spokesman John Steinbeck says 35-year-old Gloria Lee was booked into the county jail on charges of first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit first degree arson after the early morning fire on Jan. 27 at the Prince and Princess Puppy Boutique on Rainbow Boulevard.

According to the arrest report, a surveillance video camera in the business captured images of Lee entering the business and letting a man identified as Kirk Bills, in the back door. The man was carrying two red gas cans and a metal container in his pocket. The video showed the man spraying the contents of the metal container around the shop and pouring a liquid out of the gas cans. Some of that liquid was even splashed onto the kennels housing the puppies.

UPDATE: More Charges Filed Against Pet Store Owner

The arrest report said, Lee was observed on the video collecting files from an office area and talking with the man. After Lee left the business, the man lit a newspaper and touched it to the flammable liquid causing a fire to erupt.

The 27 puppies would have died if the sprinkler system hadn't activated and firefighters hadn't quickly extinguished the flames, fire officials said.

Damage to the building is estimated at $100,000.

No people were injured.

County animal control officers took possession of the dogs, and they're currently being housed at a local animal shelter. They are on a indefinite legal hold and currently not available for adoption.
