Kids Voting - 8 News NOW

Kids Voting is a unique program supported by 8 News NOW and our Community Pride partners that empowers students with the understanding of the democratic process though a program that includes a specialized curriculum and culminates in a "KidsVention," an political convention-like event where students get to vote in a mock election.

Kids Voting USA fosters an informed, participating electorate by educating and actively engaging young people and their families in voting and other elements of effective civic engagement.

Activities and Programs

• Teacher training on revised and improved curricula correlated to standards.
• Actual voting experiences for K-12 students on Election Day.
• Special events to promote democratic participation in the Southern Nevada Community.

About Kids Voting

Kids Voting USA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, national organization working with schools and communities to enhance civics education and provide youth an authentic voting experience. Kids Voting Greater Las Vegas is managed by Democracy in Action, a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors that promotes civic education and engagement through partnerships with K-12 public and private schools in Southern Nevada.
