Man Arrested for Impersonating Officer, Sexual Assault

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is under arrest accused of impersonating a police officer and sexually assaulting a woman, Metro Police said.

Officers arrested Mark Picozzi, 48 of Las Vegas, Thursday after a woman accused him of sexual assault.

According to police, the victim worked for an escort agency and was sent to the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas Tuesday to meet a client. She told police she meet with Picozzi in a hotel room.

She says he told her he was a vice detective and threatened her with arrest, if she did not do what he said. She says he then sexually assaulted.

Police tracked Picozzi down through the escort agency and surveillance video from the hotel.

Picozzi also has an active warrant from New York state for robbery, police said. He has previous convictions for robbery, kidnapping, grand theft auto and impersonating an officer.

He has been booked on charges including sexual assault, impersonating a police officer, oppression under color of office and false information to a police officer.

Investigators believe Picozzi victimized other people and are hoping those victims come forward.
