LAS VEGAS -- Jodie Gerson, head of Nevada's mental health outpatient services, has stepped down.
Gerson told the I-Team she has "voluntarily demoted" herself at Rawson-Neal Psychiatric State Hospital.
The state health department confirms the position is now empty but had no further comment, calling it a "personnel issue."
Gerson is the highest ranked person to step down in the wake of recent federal scrutiny of Rawson-Neal hospital over allegations of patient dumping by hospital staff.
Sources also say Gerson will continue as a clinician at the hospital. Gerson told the I-Team that she was stepping down for family reasons.
