Driving You Crazy: Lights Needed for Path Near I-215

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - A viewer says vehicles aren't stopping for pedestrians and cyclists who use a marked crosswalk and path along I-215 near Pebble Road.

The viewer says activated flashing lights are needed for crosswalks on Pebble near I-215 and on Eastern Avenue near I-215.

Clark County officials say they will consider flashing beacons for these crosswalks. The county also plans to take this issue a step further.

County representatives have submitted a proposal to the Regional Transportation Commission for construction of a pedestrian bridge over Pebble Road. The bridge would greatly increase pedestrian and bicycle safety at the crossing near I-215.

The bridge was selected for funding in the 2015/2016 fiscal year. Transportation officials will consider adding the flashing beacons in the near future.
