8 on Your Side: Apple Settles Regarding iTunes Purchases

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - A settlement with Apple involving iTunes could put money in your pocket.

Parents have long complained about their children racking up large bills on iTunes when they download games on their Apple products.

Many popular iTunes games are initially free, but require additional purchases as players progress through the games. One of the most popular games is Candy Crush, and it can cost a fortune to reach higher levels.

If your kids have played these games without your consent, and racked up large iTunes bills, you may be able to get some of that money back because of a class action lawsuit.

The suit was filed in 2011. Even though Apple denies the claim, the company has agreed to settle to avoid costly litigation.

If you have a child who made iTunes purchases without your consent prior to May 2013, you may be eligible for a refund or a five-dollar iTunes credit.

Claims must be filed by January 13.
