Wranglers Fans Use Social Media to Boost Attendance

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Fans of the Las Vegas Wranglers minor league hockey team are using Facebook in a bid to keep the franchise in town.

They've established a Facebook page called Save the Las Vegas Wranglers in hopes that more people will attend home games. The Facebook page is placing special emphasis on the Jan. 31 game at the Orleans Arena by telling fans "let's fill the house!"

That's when the Wranglers return home to Las Vegas from a long road trip. The Wranglers are charging adults $13 for that game against the Ontario Reign, a nearly $7 discount. Many fans are upset because Boyd Gaming, which owns the arena, has said this is the last season it will host the team.

An announcement on the fate of the Wranglers is expected to come later this month.
