General Election Early Voting Going Strong

  • As part of KLAS-TV's Nevada Decides 2004 coverage, klastv.com gave every candidate on the ballot the opportunity to submit information to help you prepare for Election Day.

(Oct. 29) -- Friday's early voting was 22,717 as of 4:30 p.m. The early voting total since Oct. 16 is 258,779 as of 4:30 p.m. Friday.

(Oct. 27) -- If you haven't voted early already, Friday is your last chance to do so. Voters continue to turn out in droves to take advantage of early voting.

So far today more than 5, 700 people have turned out at polling places across the valley. And nearly 189,000 have voted since the start of early voting on Oct. 16.

(Oct. 26) -- Everyday we are setting records for early voting in Clark County. More than 20,000 people voted Monday. That's a record for any day of early voting.

The total number of people who have voted early is now at more than 159,000. If the current pace continues, by the end of early voting this Friday, 250,000 people will have already voted -- about 40-percent of the people eligible in Clark County.

And just a reminder that the last day to vote early is this Friday, Oct. 29. 

(Oct. 25) -- As of late Monday afternoon, more than 11,700 people have voted. And more than 150,000 people have voted so far here in southern Nevada.

(Oct. 22) -- More than 12,500 people cast their votes as of 5 p.m. Friday. The total since the start of early voting on Oct. 16 is more than 98,700.

(Oct. 21) -- Early voting continues to set records. More than 11,000 people their votes as of 5 p.m. Thursday. The total since the start on early voting on Saturday is more than 82,000.

(Oct. 20) -- People are packing early polling places. As of 5 p.m., more than 10,700 people have participated in early voting on Wednesday. And more than 68,000 have voted since early voting started last Saturday.

(Oct. 19) -- In the first three days of voting, 54,138 people have cast ballots.

Democrats have opened a 2,000-voter lead in early voting over the GOP, according to the figures after day 3. Turnout has been remarkably consistent, with 14,626 voters Monday bringing the three-day total to 41,922.

(Oct. 18) -- Early voting is underway here in southern Nevada and it's setting records. People are lining up at polling places all over the valley to vote. Some 27,000 people voted over the weekend. That's twice the number of early votes case in the Presidential Election four years ago.

And in an election where every vote counts, voters need to be prepared. "Don't think someone is going to do the job for you. It's important to get out there and vote this year more than ever," commented voter Judi Gronquist.

If you want to avoid the Election Day crowds, you can go to the polls to cast your vote now. Early voting for the General Election ends Friday, Oct. 29.

Remember to bring your drivers license or other picture ID. Poll workers say if you plan on bringing a utility bill or other piece of mail with your name and address on it make sure it shows your home address not a post office box. Otherwise it will not be considered official.
