Nevada Traffic Deaths Dip in 2013

Posted: Updated:

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Fewer people died on Nevada roadways in 2013 than the year before.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports preliminary totals show 259 traffic fatalities last year. That's three fewer deaths than in 2012.

But in Clark County the number of deaths rose to 183, up from 172 the year before.

Washoe County in northern Nevada saw a notable decline in traffic deaths. Nineteen people died in 2013, down from 32 in 2012.

State officials and safety advocates say annual Nevada traffic fatalities have generally trended down after reaching an all-time high of 432 in 2006.z
