Options to Avoid Drinking and Driving on NYE

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- New Year's Eve is an exciting time in Las Vegas but some people will have too much to drink and need a safe ride home.

If you need a ride home, there are plenty of free and safe ways to get you there.

AAA's Tipsy Tow will operate from 6 p.m. New Year's Eve until 6 a.m. New Year's morning. Tipsy Tow will drive you home and tow your car up to 10 miles. All you need to do is call 800-222-HELP and ask for a Tipsy Tow.

The Regional Transportation Commission is also offering free rides. The Deuce buses will take passengers from Fremont Street to Mandalay Bay using side streets. Park and Ride is also available to anyone trying to get to the Las Vegas Strip. The bus rides are free. Locals can also use the monorail for just $1 to travel along the Strip.

"We are offering free rides tonight beginning at 6 p.m. through 9 a.m. tomorrow morning," said Heather Curry with the RTC.

Even off-Strip properties, such as Tivoli Village, are offering to help out drivers. There will be complimentary Town Cars from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. for anyone who needs a ride home because they have had too much to drink.

In year's past, a group called Designated Driver's Inc. offered free rides, but not this year. The group now charges $100 to give someone a ride home and will not make pick-ups on Fremont Street, the Strip or any Stations Casino until after 3 a.m.
