Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police say a motorcycle rider is dead after an early morning accident near Dean Martin Drive and Tropicana Avenue.

Police say the bike was traveling northbound along Dean Martin shortly before 1:30 a.m., when the rider lost control and crashed into a concrete wall.

The 28-year-old male rider died at the scene of the accident. Police say speed likely played a factor in the crash, but police are also determining whether the rider was impaired.

"We are going to be concerned as far as, or looking into if he had any impairment, but we won't know that until the coroner concludes their (toxicology) analysis of his blood," said Metro Police Sgt. Richard Strader.

This was the 113th fatal accident in Metro Police jurisdiction this year and the 35th to involve a motorcycle.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will identify the victim once next of kin have been notified.
