Airport Officials Offer Holiday Travel Tips

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - Thousands of Las Vegas residents are packing their bags and getting ready to travel for the holidays. McCarran International Airport officials offer tips to make the trek easier.

Airport officials urge passengers to allow additional time for long lines. If someone is taking you to the airport, arrive at least an hour and a half before your flight leaves. Add thirty minutes to that time if you are driving yourself. This will allow time to find a parking spot.

Check Your Flight Status

Travel delays could also occur as a result of bad weather across the nation, so check weather reports and flight statuses often – even if your destination is experiencing clear skies.

"You still want to monitor your flight status, because your aircraft may not get to Las Vegas if it's traveling through an affected part of the country," said McCarran International Airport spokesperson Christine Crews.

Another way to save time is check in and print your boarding pass from home. Additionally, if you're packing gifts, make sure they are unwrapped. This will save time at airport security.

On average, 115,000 passengers fly out of McCarran Airport each day throughout the year. The airport serves approximately 1,000 flights per day.
