Man Charged with Murder in Infant Son's Death

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is under arrest on charges of murder, child abuse and child neglect in the death of his 2-month-old son.

Metro Police officers arrested Ahmad Moosa, 31 of Las Vegas Tuesday. According to police, Moosa called 911 Saturday from his home near Pecos Road and Carey Avenue, after he picked up his son and found that he was limp and wasn't breathing.

The infant was taken to University Medical Center where he died. An autopsy found that the child had two broken ribs, one which was an older injury that was healing and another more recent injury. The medical examiner also found the child had bleeding on his brain and hemorrhaging in his eyes.

Moosa denied hurting the child but could not explain how his son was injured, police said. The medical examiner says the injuries are definitively from abuse. The boy's mother was out of the house when he suffered the fatal injuries.

Police say since the child was in Moosa's care when the injuries happened, he is being charged with murder.
